The set of ten pictures depicting an ox and its herder has been one of the most commonly used devices of the Zen tradition for mapping the important spiritual stages that we pass through in our meditation training. In these pictures the ox symbolizes our True Nature. It's clear that the collection of futuresque art prints in the gallery below is quite unlike the traditional wood cuts and ink paintings normally associated with the Zen Oxherding Pictures. Nevertheless these high resolution digital images, in their unique fashion and with carefully crafted subtlety do present those ten stages of spiritual progression that have been taught in the Zen tradition for centuries. In fact the unique imagery of this collection creates an opportunity for the viewer to approach the study of these stages with the open minded context that is itself Zen.
